# Votifier Installation

## How to enable Votifier?

1. Install the Votifier plugin on your server (check your platform's plugin repository Votifier and its forks are available for most major server software).
2. Configure the plugin with a host, port, and public key (details below).
3. Enter that same host, port, and public key into your server's settings on GamesFinder.
4. Restart your server so the plugin picks up the config.
5. Cast a test vote to confirm everything's connected you should see a vote event logged in your server console within a few seconds.

## Essentials

**Host**

The IP address or domain your server listens on for Votifier connections. This is usually the same as your main server IP, though some setups run Votifier on a separate address check your hosting provider's docs if you're not sure.

**Port**

The port Votifier listens on, separate from your main game port. The default is typically 8192, but you can change it in the plugin config just make sure whatever you set is open and forwarded correctly, and that it matches what you enter on GamesFinder.

**Public key**

Votifier uses public-key encryption to verify that vote notifications are actually coming from GamesFinder and not being spoofed. When you install the plugin, it generates a key pair automatically. Copy the public key into your GamesFinder server settings so we can encrypt vote data specifically for your server.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://wiki.gamesfinder.cc/voting/votifier-installation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
